Why did our customers choose Schulthess? You can find their personal arguments here.

The new energy label
From 2021, the division into energy efficiency classes and the content will change on the EU energy label. The appearance of the label will also be updated.
As both technical developments and purchasing behaviour have changed in recent years, an improvement in the current EU energy label is necessary. The new label rescales the energy efficiency classes. Classes higher than A are eliminated (A+, A++, A+++). Classification is now from A to G, with class A remaining free for the time being in order to motivate manufacturers to continuously improve their technologies in the future. The new categorisation is the same for all appliance types and is determined by new measurement methods.
The new EU energy label is intended to highlight other variables that play a role in the appliance’s sustainability. For washing machines, for example, the water consumption per wash cycle is indicated. Consumers can find more product information on the EPREL database, to be made available by the EU from 1 March 2021. There you will find data sheets for all electrical appliances and gain a comprehensive insight into each product’s sustainability and resource consumption.
The first household appliances with the new label will be washing machines, combined washer-dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers and wine storage appliances. They must carry the new EU energy label from 1 March 2021.
Current energy label
The current energy label has existed in its present form since 2012 and provides information on the efficiency class of electrical appliances and other information such as energy and water consumption.
The current energy label classifies all electrical appliances in classes D to A+++, with the majority of new electrical appliances being in classes A+ to A+++. This gives the impression that all appliances are energy-efficient and sustainable, though this is not necessarily the case. In addition to the efficiency classes, the label contains pictograms with further information about the appliance, such as energy and water consumption, noise emission values or maximum load. For washing machines and dishwashers, water and energy consumption is currently expressed in annual values.
How Schulthess sets up a laundry
Schulthess not only repairs defective appliances, but also plans and realises entire laundries – such as the refitting of the in-house laundry at the St. Peter and Paul retirement centre in Zurich. How does this work? The nursing home’s laundry was completely renovated and fitted with new Schulthess appliances in just two days at the end of August. I was there on site and was able to document the deinstallation of the old and the installation of the new machines.
Sustainability – the number 1 topic at Schulthess
Forest fires, rising sea levels, unpredictable weather events – in short: climate change. This is the reason why the issues of environmental protection and sustainability are central for each of us and for the future of our planet. Sustainability, by definition, means acting in a way that meets the needs of both present and future generations. It is based on the three pillars of ecology, economy and social issues.
Schulthess is already thinking about tomorrow and is thus committed to sustainability so that future generations can also fully live out their needs. For Schulthess, this means high-quality, durable products, a spirit of innovation and fair, environmentally friendly and socially responsible production.
Schulthess payment systems for the apartment block
If several different people use a washing machine, the demands on the appliances are particularly high. Not just for the tenants, but also for the landlord. The household appliance manufacturer Schulthess is well aware of this. Of course, apartment block machines must above all be easy to operate and have many different programmes and options. But tenants also attach importance to energy efficiency and landlords, of course, to robust durability. Total cost of ownership is the watchword here, and landlords and management companies have long been aware that favourable procurement costs are not the only decisive factor for a smart investment in the future.
As a Swiss laundry pioneer and steeped in tradition, Schulthess knows about the needs of consumers and is constantly launching new, innovative products onto the market.
Family laundry neatly done with little effort
As a parent, you know best what’s good for your child. This also applies to laundry care. Today’s parents place very high demands on their washing machines. And rightly so!
Parents know: Families with children have their own special needs when it comes to laundry care. Shove the clothes in the washing machine, select the short programme, hang them up and put them on – that usually doesn’t work with babies and toddlers. Because kids’ clothes aren’t just worn or sweaty, but really dirty. For all that, parents do not want to invest a lot of time in laundry care. Understandably – because family time is valuable, washing and drying laundry has to be practical and straightforward. No problem! Today’s washing machines and dryers are developed, designed and produced to make life easy for families. Their programmes are especially family-friendly and often amaze with functions such as time delay, quiet operation or the extremely short washing times.
Washing fabric masks correctly
Even before masks were made compulsory in Switzerland, the first commuters were seen wearing disposable or home-made fabric masks to protect themselves against coronavirus. Since there were not enough hygiene masks for everyday use for a long time, the federal government held back with an ordinance for protective masks. Since 6 July 2020, there has been a general obligation to wear masks on public transport in Switzerland, as there are now enough hygiene masks for everyday use.
